11 a.m., Cinéma CINERAMA Empire, rue de Carouge 72-74:

Ciné-ONU Geneva screening of the documentary film “No Asylum: The Untold Chapter of Anne Frank’s Story”. The 50-minute film tells the story of Otto Frank’s unsuccessful attempts to obtain visas for his family to free from the Nazis. A discussion will follow with Eva Schloss, Otto Frank’s stepdaughter, and Paula Fouce, the film’s director. Free entry.

This event of cultural and historical commemoration and remembrance is presented by the 🇺🇳 UN (United Nations) Information Service, with the support of the permanent diplomatic missions of the State of Israel and of the United States of America to the United Nations in the Office of the Headquarters in Geneva in Switzerland.

Monday 29th January 2018:

5 p.m., Assembly Hall, Palais des Nations:

Official ceremony for Holocaust Remembrance Day, featuring the testimonial of Eva Schloss and a musical performance proposed by former laureates of the Menuhin Competition, young violinists Anne Luisa Kramb and Dmitry Smirnov.
Accompanied on piano by Gordon Back, Artistic Director of the Menuhin Competition.
This event of cultural and historical commemoration and remembrance is organized by the 🇺🇳 UN (United Nations) Information Service, with the support of the permanent diplomatic missions of the State of Israel and of the United States of America to the United Nations in the Office of the Headquarters in Geneva in Switzerland, and the Menuhin Competition.

Hall des Pas perdus, Palais des Nations:

“Let Me Be Myself: The Story of the Life of Anne Frank” is an exhibition about the celebrated young writer, from the year of her birth in the 1929 up to the year of her death occured in the camp of concentration of Bergen-Belsen in the 1945.
It will include a replica of her famous diary and a scale model of the hiding place. The exhibition connects her story to experiences of discrimination and exclusion today, based on interviews with youth with diverse identities.

This event of cultural and historical commemoration and remembrance is presented by the European Union and the Switzerland in cooperation with the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam in Netherlands.
